Nigeria’s Minister of sports development Senator John Enoh has provided an update concerning the future of under fire Super Eagles coach José Peseiro.
According to the him, the fate of Peseiro as the senior men’s team coach will be decided after the 2023 African Cup of Nations that will be held in Ivory Coast from January 13th to February 11th, 2024.
Addressing the media as part of Activities to mark his 100 days in office, the Minister also meet with the officials of Nigerian football Federation to discuss the poor performance of the Super Eagles.
Enoh also express his concern that the Nigerian National team is not delivering, not meeting up to expectations.
Jose Peseiro has Come under scrutiny for leading the team to a poor start at the 2026 world Cup qualifiers with draw against lowly-ranked Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
Recently during a live sports Program in kano, technical committee Chairman, Nigeria Football Federation, Dr. Sharif Rabiu Inuwa Ahlan said the NFF had been considering a local coach to replace Jose Peseiro.
Former Interim Super Eagles coach Salisu Yusuf may well be the one to replaced him if he failed to live up to expectation after the African Cup of Nations tournament.
Salisu Yusuf has been successful during his time as an Interim coach in 2016 when he manager the Eagles against Mali and Luxembourg.
Football loving fans see’s him as the coach capable of bringing back the old glory days of the senior National team.
