Plateau begins demolition of unstable buildings in Jos

Plateau State Government has demolished a two-storey building in Jos which residents said was unstable for years.
The building, popularly referred to as Tetengi house, on Mango Street, once housed a school on two floors and shops on the ground floor.
Governor Simon Lalong had, following the collapse of a three-storey building that killed 12 people in Jos on Monday, vowed to pull down unstable buildings.
A statement by the management of Joss Metropolitan Development Board urged those residing in unstable structures to vacate immediately; and residents to report to the board any defective structure around them for necessary action.
