Commander, National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano State, Dr. Ibrahim Abdul, says the command has seized a total of 6,726,012 kilograms of hard drugs from June 2018 to date.

The commander made the disclosure at a press briefing in Kano as part of commemoration of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking celebrated every 26th June.

He said, within the period under review, the command had successfully intercepted 3,201,155 kilograms of cannabis sativa. Abdul added that the command had also seized 3,370,911 kilograms of psychotropic, 150.007 kilograms of khat.

Giving further breakdown of the success achieved, Abdul said the command had arrested 725 suspects, out of which 620 are male while 105 are female.

Correspondent Nabeela Mukhtar Uba quoted the commandant as lamenting over adequate manpower, shortage of logistics, lack of enough facilities to accommodate the teaming addicts that require counseling and rehabilitation are some of the command’s major challenges.
